Car cruise

It's that time of year again. My friend Angie will spend all day Saturday washing and cleaning her Dodge Challenger. She will then drive it 5-10 miles to Culver's who hosts the group. Lilly and I went to see what it was all about.

We walked around and checked out all the other cars. Lilly doesn't let very many people hold when I'm present, but Angie is one of the special ones.

Angie was nice enough to save a parking space for us next to her show car. So we parked Lilly's stroller and waited on the people to come look at it. One little boy did seem interested in it...

Mighty Machines - Live!

I was introduced to Mighty Machines last winter by Cole and Ty. Cole and Ty are both 3 1/2 year old boys. They went from rowdy to silent in approximately .3 seconds when the Mighty Machines DVD started. If I had a boy - I would invest in lots of these DVDs. Lilly and I came home the other day to find the live show next door!

I'm not real sure what is being built, but Lilly is definitely going to keep an eye on things.

I thought it was loud and dirty, but she was quite fascinated! I had to keep grabbing her and placing her back in her own yard. She would slowly, but surely, mosey on over to get a closer look. Cole and Ty would be so jealous!

Where's Lilly?

I placed all her stuffed animals in the Moses basket we used when she was a newborn. Lilly kicked a few out and made room for herself!

Happy Easter!

So - we went to the Easter Eggtravaganza at church yesterday to practice. And look - it worked!

See the excitement in her face?

She went straight to the first egg and made eye contact.

She picked it up and even gave it a little shake.

and then she tossed it aside and went to visit all the other eggs.

that she did not care to put in her basket. So - Ernie hid 18 eggs for her. I picked up 6 or 7 and Ernie picked up the rest. She still has not been interested in the contents of her eggs. They are still laying on the floor waiting on her to notice them or at least play with them!

Easter Egg Hunt

The theory: drop 1000 eggs and release a bunch of kids and they will gather all of those eggs for you. I thought this would be good practice for Lilly for Sunday morning at home. There were coloring activities, sticker activities, face painting, and other games to play while volunteers hid all these eggs. Here is Lilly going toward them.

And she picked up a lot of them. However, she only kept 5. She gave some to me to put in her basket and others she just tossed aside for someone else. One toddler's trash - another toddler's treasure.

We went home for a little lunch and a long nap before going out again to a fund raiser for March of Dimes supporting Team Three in memory of Caden and Lane Heffington and Christian Piech.

Kristin had vendors from Southern Living, 31 Gifts, Silpada, and Pampered Chef. This would normally be right up my alley. Fortunately, Lilly kept me distracted, thus saving us money - she's so thrifty! My goal was to keep her away from the jewelry because I knew it would be a favorite of hers. Thankfully, Cole's toy box was close by. She just helps herself to his things now.

Lil Musings

Lilly's been doing some really great things lately! It's a shame we have no photos to share.

I was putting her laundry away the other day. I put the basket in the middle of the room equidistant between her dresser and chest of drawers. I put the pajamas in the appropriate drawer and went back to get my next pile of little outfits to see that more laundry has been added to her basket. While I turned my back to her to put away clothes in her dresser, she consistently and very quickly took clothes from her chest and added them to the basket. This provided much joy for her. And of course, I praised her every time she haphazardly threw them all back in her drawer - no longer folded; no longer with their co-ordinating pieces. The good news is I had forgotten about all of those clothes and she has saved me money because they should all fit her soon!
Since I was off on Good Friday, I thought it would be fun to join a play group at the Ralston Purina farm in Gray Summit (an hour away). Apparently everyone (and I do mean EVERYONE!) thought the same thing. Lilly was dressed in a super cute outfit for "Easter Village" - a little area with all kinds of new born animals. She was most interested in the sleeping piglets. She got to pet a duckling and a bunny. There were lots of photo opp spots, but it was so crowded there was no way to get it done. Plus, I forgot my camera. I never even found our play group. I did run into a friend from church. She was there with her triplets - yes, as a play group - Multiples in St. Louis!
Lilly is really starting to imitate me. She does a pretty good "Bah Bah Black Sheep" and although she still can't tell us what a cow says or what Goose says, she can tell you what a duck says - if you know what to listen for. She will count with us to five, but she usually skips 2-4, because I make the number five sound so awesome! She just wants to get to it. I also stuck my tongue out at her and moved it around to see what she would do. And she did it right back and laughed.
She wants to dress herself and is really trying with socks and her pants. Once she resolves she needs assistance, she gets really excited to see when her fingers and toes will appear. She loves that game! We count her fingers and toes to make sure they all made the long journey together. I received a text from Ernie last week while I was at work. "Houdini escaped from her diaper." Imagine Ernie's surprise when he saw a diaper in the family room without it's owner.
And last, but certainly not least - Goose. Goose is really sweet with her. I try to keep him out of her room because he is loud. He doesn't mean to be, but he can't help, but to shake his ears or wag his tail against the door or a piece of furniture. So he supervises me from the hallway. I usually go in and check on her before going to bed. One night recently, he sneaked in behind me. He took great care to be super quiet. And then he tried to kiss her through the crib railings.
