Who's the cutest?

Answer: (in case you didn't know...) Lilly!

This is Lilly's family photo outfit and my attempt at photography! Kevin must have sensed I was not having much success so he shot while I held her and tried to convince her this was fun and she wasn't tired at all.

They Meet... (insert Ms Pac-Man Music here)

Lilly is about 8 weeks older than her cousin, Molly. This morning, Molly made her appearance at the pool while Lilly was taking a nap. Lilly made her grand entrance to the pool around noon and guess who was taking her nap! Also - I've yet to see Molly's parents - Bryan and Stephanie, but rumor had it - they arrived around 1030 yesterday. Finally Lilly and Molly happened to be awake and at the same place at the same time so we finally met Molly. I'd like to say they both happily entertained each other while we all enjoyed dinner and had adult conversation, but Lilly was getting tired. I didn't have the heart to even tell her it was going to be another late night because we had family pictures tonight!!

Sanibel Stoop

It is that time of year. Yes, week 29 is here! Lilly had several firsts this weekend. Her first plane ride. Her first 3 hour (yes, three hour) layover in Dallas and is now in Sanibel, FL. Her first dip in the Gulf, learning the Sanibel Stoop! You're never too young!

July 4th

It was her first. I had a cute outfit - very patriotic for her to wear. I forgot to put her in it. We decided to go down to the lake and watch the subdivision fireworks show with her. It started to rain. It was really late too (9:00 PM) so I thought I would bring Lilly home. Ernie thought I was nuts, but it was late! Anyway we came home and Lilly want to bed around 9:30.

HOWEVER... we've moved to a place called Fireworks City! It is legal to shoot off fireworks in Jefferson County which we must be smack dab in the middle because there were fireworks going off all night everywhere! And honestly, it's not just a night or even a weekend around here - it is truly a season. So far - a loooong season. Seriously - fireworks going off well past midnight and some going off right now as I type and Lilly tries to sleep.

She's done pretty well with it all, but July 4 was really loud and at 11:30 she woke up screaming mad. She just couldn't take it anymore. She finally fell asleep in my arms around 12:15AM, but I still held her until all was quiet on the homefront again.

Tu-Tu Cute!

Claire (see earlier post) received a tu-tu for a shower gift and Maria (her very "vogue" mother) was so excited about and told me to look at the website. I, naturally, said, "no way would I put Lilly in a tu-tu" and then I saw the cutest little thing and knew it would be the perfect party dress for Lilly's first birthday! However, I just couldn't bring myself to spend $40. So I made one! For less than $15... look at those savings Ernie :-}

I couldn't wait to see it on someone and Lilly was sleeping and they say never wake a sleeping baby and it must be an important rule because I hear and read that statement all the time! No matter how excited one may be about a cute craft - DO NOT WAKE A SLEEPING BABY! So I tried it on one of her bears.

The bear is not a very good model, although she does smile! So I tried it on the lamp:

the lamp makes a terrible model! I could not wait for Lilly to wake up the next morning! I knew she'd be so excited....

Turns out - the lamp was the better model and actually more enthusiastic about the tu-tu.

I do hope she changes her mind about it soon because I think she may be the "Tu-Tooth Fairy" for Halloween!

Father's Day

OK - so I made a little art project for Ernie that included a poem and Lilly's very adorable feet. However, I decided to laminate it. At work. The laminator ate it. And it was ruined. Fortunately - Lilly also got him a card. I put red paint on her hand to make her hand print. She moved. It looks nothing like a hand print. Thankfully - Lilly picked out a soft board book "Daddy Loves Me So." I'm happy to report the book is still here and in perfect condition! I read it to Lilly often. Ernie worked on Father's Day and I didn't think to take a picture. We really have to get better at the picture taking thing!

The St. Louis Komen Race for the Cure

Has it really been that long since I've blogged? wow... Anyway - June 13 was the annual Race for the Cure. I usually put together a pretty large team and we enjoy muffins downtown among thousands of people all walking for a common cause near and dear to me. This year there were over 66,000 participants! I, however, decided not to go down because I wasn't real sure I wanted Lilly among the masses so I singed up to "Sleep In" for the cure. We have really got to define "sleeping in" for Lilly. Anyway - she received 2 Race for the Cure onesies for a shower gift and she wore them both to celebrate! I must say the hat is just lovely... Be on the look out for that hat soon in Sanibel, FL!
